Information You Choose to Send
Queries Submitted to Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. Mercer County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own system. The provider's policy governs its collection and use.
Messages and Contact Details
If you email or submit a contact message, we retain the message and the contact details needed to respond. That material is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Standard web systems may record limited technical and usage information when a page loads.
- The internet protocol address used for the request
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when supplied
- Date and time stamps
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may help measure visits and understand how readers use the site. A browser can reject or remove them, though blocking cookies may cause some functions to behave differently.
Purposes for Using Data
Collected information is used for ordinary site operations and improvement.
- Keep pages available and responsive
- Send a query to the selected search partner
- Measure which resources readers use
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect interests
Links and Outside Services
Links lead to Mercer County offices, WVDCR resources, court and release records, federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy terms control. Mercer County Released Inmates does not set those practices.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That tracking takes place under the provider's controls, not as a record maintained here.

Reasonable Security Measures
Common administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information. No website, network, or online transmission method is completely secure. We cannot promise that a breach, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
